Sheffield in Edinburgh: Part 4

Ahead of a review in next month’s Now Then I’ll be posting a series of short pieces about the wonderful performers from our Steel City making a splash in the Athens of the North at the world’s largest arts festival.

Slightly different today as I’m bringing you a preview of a show taking place tomorrow night rather than a review. Why? Because it’s one night only so if you are at the Festival or heading up, you need to know now.

Chella Quint and Sarah Thomasin are names you will likely recognise from being out and about in Sheffield. Chella recently wrote for us on the Ethnography of Pub Quizzes and Sarah has featured in our Wordlife section and beat all comers to be crowned Now Then Poetry Slam Champion as part of last years Off the Shelf Festival. But enough prevaricating – what are they doing in Edinburgh?

The dynamic duo are performing as part of the Ladyfest Cabaret Night which promises a bevy of brilliant female performers keeping you entertained at the Leith Circle (115 Leith Walk) from 8pm till 11pm and all for a fiver!

I caught up with Chella Quint and Sarah Thomasin of Adventures in Menstruating to discover they’ll be unveiling an all new song in the style of Sesame Street, performing brand new poetry as well as a ‘best of’ Adventures in Menstruating, which started life as a self-published zine now on its 5th issue. As if all that weren’t enough it also includes the launch of Chella’s brand new zine on the secret life of planets; ‘It’s not you. I just need space’.

Having laid my grubby mitts on a special preview copy of said zine I can guarantee it will have you grinning all the way to the Kuiper Cliff.

You can keep up with the pair on twitter here and here as well as facebook and the web links above. If you can make it to the Ladyfest Cabaret tomorrow night; do. I’ll see you there.
