Day of Discounts

To celebrate two months of the Now Then Discounts App, we’ve handpicked a selection of local traders to bring you a (theoretical) Day of Discounts. We will take you through Nether Edge and Abbeydale Road, along Ecclesall Road and right into the heart of the city, making sure you don’t miss out on our favourite haunts and newest discoveries. What better way to spend a day – discovering some of Sheffield’s independent gems and looking after the pennies along the way, Now Then app in hand?

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Sebastian’s Kitchen + Cakery on Sharrow Vale Road know this all too well, and are offering Now Then app users 2-for-1 on all of their delicious breakfast dishes before 11am on a Wednesday. Try their vanilla scented French toast with bacon and maple syrup or go for the homemade porridge with yoghurt and fresh fruit if you’re on your best behaviour.

Alternatively, if you want to pop down to Ecclesall Road on another day of the week, make the most of Fancie’s brunch menu with 20% off all food Monday to Friday, all day long. Brunch is served 9am-5pm, so there’s no need to get up at the crack of dawn. The brunch menu offers a range of cooked breakfasts, including vegetarian and vegan options, as well as Eggs Benedict, omelettes and granola. Something for everyone.

Once you’re fuelled up with bacon and eggs, head to Abbeydale Road to enjoy some shopping and pop into the Electric Candlelight Café for some well-deserved coffee and cake. With the Now Then app you can get a free coffee with any slice of cake between Tuesday and Thursday.

As you pass through Nether Edge, be sure to visit Zed on the Edge, an independent whole food and health store, now offering 10% off their unbranded products, including chocolate covered fruit and nuts, Bombay mix and sesame sticks – perfect little snacks for on the go or to get you through the mid-afternoon work slump.

After some morning shopping, it’s time for a leisurely lunch in the city centre. Smoke, Sheffield’s newest barbecue restaurant, is situated beneath the famous cheesegrater building, so you can’t miss it. Their irresistible deal is ‘two lunch main courses for £10’ between 2pm and 5pm, Monday to Friday. The perfect place to spend your lunch break (away from your colleagues…) If you fancy something a bit more adventurous, we strongly recommend some tapas at Cubana in Leopold Square, near the Town Hall. As long as you eat before 6pm, you can enjoy ‘two tapas dishes for £7’ or ‘£5 off any tapas set menu’. Bloody ace.

While digesting all that goodness, spend an afternoon browsing some of the city’s finest independent shops. Division Street holds many gems, so take your time to explore all that it has to offer. If you’re on the lookout for gorgeous handmade gifts and homeware, head to Moonko, where you can enjoy 10% off across absolutely everything. A hop, skip and a jump will take you to Code3D (10% off 3D printed items), Rare & Racy (10% off when you spend £20), Balance (25% off branded product), Syd and Mallory (20% off items over £10), Filibuster & Booth (free earrings when you spend £25), and Rag Parade (10-15% off, depending on spend). Spoilt for choice.

Crossing over Division Street, you will find Plantology, one of the city’s finest florists. Here you can enjoy 10% off all loose flowers, floral arrangements and plants, so you can save on a great gift for that special someone (or for that overdue apology).

A few doors down is The Alternative Store, selling some of the best brands in current streetwear. They are offering a 10% discount on selected full price items, so keep your eyes peeled on their ever-changing stock. Why not get the Christmas shopping started now?

After you’ve enjoyed some afternoon shopping, it’s coffee time. One of Sheffield’s newest coffee bars, Ink & Water, has recently opened in West One Plaza, at the end of Devonshire Street. Using the Now Then app you can get any hot drink and cake for £3, from Monday to Saturday between 2 and 5. Ink & Water offer a range of hot drinks, cakes and sandwiches at what are already excellent prices. They also offer an amazing loyalty card, which means you get your fourth hot drink for free.

If you fancy some pre-dinner drinks, Sheffield has more than enough bars to choose from. The Wick at Both Ends is offering some great deals between 4-9pm every day, including £2 off cocktails, real ale for £2.25 and bottles of Budvar for £2.50. Plus, since you’ll be hungry by now, app users get 20% off food, all the time.

After a hectic day, you need to take a load off in one of Sheffield’s fine traditional pubs, like The Red Deer. If you buy two drinks and show our app, you can get your second one half price. Keep on saving into the early hours and don’t forget those brunch offers to kick that morning-after hangover.
