It may have escaped your notice if you live outside of the Broomhill area of our fair city, but there’s a festival that’s been quietly chugging along for 41 years this year and it’s coming to an end this weekend with a Garden Party on Saturday 20th at St Mark’s Church from 2pm. It’ll be a family friendly afternoon of music, stalls and of course, some quaffable local ales – because it wouldn’t be a Sheffield Garden Party otherwise would it?
Themed around Alice in Wonderland, this year’s festival has been a huge programme of 49 events that began on 5th June and has included a Mad Hatter’s dinner party, readings from Derbyshire Poet Laureate and Word Life fave Helen Mort and exhibitions of local art.
The events remaining for this year range from a talk on the Magna Carta to lunchtime concerta and a piano masterclass to floristry demos. For more information including venues and ticketing info please visit the festival website – http://broomhillfestival.org.uk/events/
All proceeds from this year’s festival go to Project Buzz, Sheffield Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre, Broomhill Community Library and BBEST.
