Just over a fortnight ago, two of us from the Now Then team were lucky enough to be invited to attend a tasting evening at the newly opened Hope & Anchor. We arrived in the early evening and were greeted with a very warm welcome by Marketing Manager, Lauren. We’d heard on the grapevine that they do prosecco on draught, and lo and behold, it was true, and tasted just as good, if not better, than if it had come from a freshly opened bottle. Glasses in hand, we took our seats, and waited with anticipation for the food…
And we didn’t have to wait long. The food was beautifully presented and chock-full of delicious flavours. We had a tough time choosing our favourites because everything was super tasty but the Blackened Cod and Celeriac Pakora really stood out for us, as did the Rib Eye Steak with mushroom, yes mushroom, ketchup.
The tasting dishes served on the evening were:
Celeriac pakora, apple & mango chutney
Bresaola, fig chutney & hazelnut dressing
Fish & chips, pea puree & tartar sauce
Rib Eye steak, mushroom ketchup, chips, baby gem & roast tomato
Blackened cod, red pepper, spring onion, giant cous cous & pak choi
Roast sweet potato, apple, brie stack, cauliflower & romesco sauce
We have since waxed lyrical to all who will listen about how much we enjoyed the food (and prosecco) at the Hope & Anchor, and would recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy wonderful food in a really relaxed atmosphere. In fact we had such a good time, that we’ll be taking the whole Now Then team there next weekend.
