Sheffield Food Festival: 26-28 May

The 8th Sheffield Food Festival will take place during the Spring bank holiday from 26-28 May. The free entry event will showcase Sheffield’s incredible food and drink scene, bringing over 80 local traders and brewers to the Peace Gardens and its surrounding areas. Events Collective, who are returning organisers for the second year, will curate a sensational blend of locally-sourced food, craft beer, cakes, street food, chef masterclasses and much more.

For amateur chefs and people who see their potential career in the food industry there’ll be a Food Futures area in the Town Hall. Expect talks, tastings, mini-masterclasses and panel discussions, and the perfect platform for future food professionals to learn some invaluable tips and tricks.

Next to the fountains in the Peace Gardens you’ll find the Theatre Kitchen, a professional kitchen set up by The Cookery Theatre. New for 2018, this attraction will be hosted by top local chefs who’ll be demonstrating basic cookery tips, looking specifically at how to take food bought at artisan markets and use it to create dishes to be proud of.

Meanwhile on Fargate you’ll find the Eats, Treats and Beats Festival Village where you can join fellow foodie revellers to celebrate Sheffield’s street food. Starting on the Friday evening and continuing throughout the weekend, the city’s best-loved street food traders will open into the night, bringing an abundance of dynamic cuisine into the cosy marquees. Alongside the food, the fridges will be filled to the brim by the city’s best brewers and distillers, and there’ll be fantastic live music performances too.

Be sure to keep an eye out for the Sheffield Food Festival magazine. Launching at the beginning of May, the magazine will tell you all you need to know about the food, recipes and activities that’ll be on offer. We’ll see you there.
