Tramlines is almost upon us and while the main party will be hot-footing it over to Hillsborough Park for the first time, lots of our favourite venues in and around the city centre will be throwing their doors open and inviting you to enjoy specially-curated events packed full of bands, DJs and special guests. So we’ve cherry-picked a few fringe spots that we think are definitely worth a look…
First up, with what we reckon is the best-named event at this year’s fringe, is Clamlines at Delicious Clam on Exchange Street. Kicking off on Thursday night with their traditional opening blowout you can look forward to Sammartino, Bruce & Carl (& Snakeman), Sheff faves Thee Mightees and garage punk trashers The Sleazoids, along with the ever so welcome return of the world-renowned sABBAth DJ set and Clamaoke. And on Friday and Saturday you’ll be treated to musical mayhem from Breakfast Muff, All Girls Arson Club, Tommy Hillfinger and Naguals amongst many others. So if the DIY-vibe is your party, head on down to Le Clam for a guaranteed righteous time.
Picture House Social: NBHD 2018
Over the other side of town at Picture House Social, Neighbourhood returns with a tip-top line-up from Friday to Sunday, all totally free entry. The Friday is curated by Rebecca Taylor’s solo project, SELF ESTEEM, with Pink Suits, Sit Down, Mairead and Lady Stephen all coming out to play, along with a headline set by Rebecca herself. Saturday is brought to you courtesy of Bear Tree Records with a line-up which includes Black Mamba Fever, Pet Deaths and Galaxians, and Saturday will see Bodach, The Hot Soles and BlackWaters all taking to the stage. The Piccie House have also gone all out on the club-night front, with DJ Pipes & Ashley Plenty, Threads and Be Kind Rewind all taking to the decks until 3am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night respectively.
Yellow Arch x The Fringe at Tramlines Weekend 2018
The Tramlines fringe at Yellow Arch is a double-bill of late-night parties on the Friday and Saturday. Friday will kick off at 8:30pm and go right through ‘til 4am with an incredible line-up of reggae, dub, soul, funk and jungle acts including Solar Love Society, The Hempolics and Rogue Siesta. And Saturday will be a jazz, electronica, world, neo-soul and funk extravaganza featuring Life Aquatic Band, Flok and Humbar amongst others, keeping you up and dancing from 7pm until the wee small hours.
