Northern Elements

Northern Elements

Word Life was selected by the Arts Council as one of their partners on a regional live literature development scheme entitled ‘Northern Elements’. Alongside literature organisation Bad Language in Manchester and Steve Urwin’s Talking Pen in Newcastle we were commissioned to run an event helping to celebrate new writing.

We ran an event in the Lantern Theatre featuring some of the best up and coming and established writers across northern regions. We selected one writer from Sheffield, Bradford, Manchester, Rotherham, Barnsley and a musician from Liverpool, and brought them all to The Lantern Theatre to perform alongside each other. Featuring Gav Roberts, Sally Goldsmith, Socrates Adams, Andrew McMillan Michelle Scally Clarke, Kirsty Taylor (pictured) and musician Fallen Leaf.

It was a great night with strong performances from some up most exciting new writers in the north. The event was well attended, and we hope is one of many more at the Grade 2 listed Lantern Theatre.
