Sheffield’s Merlin Theatre

Team Now Then had a treat last month with a little outing to the Merlin Theatre in Nether Edge which is in the middle of a major refurbishment. Set in the gardens of the beautiful Tintagel House, the theatre had to close in 2011 following severe flood damage.

However after a massive fundraising effort that has seen over £980,000 of the £1.1 million needed raised, the end of refurbishment is in sight and the doors will reopen in Autumn this year.

In sight of course means not quite there yet so with that in mind have a gander at their current crowd funding campaign – you have until the 11th May to make sure your bum is cradled comfortably in brand new seats when the Merlin reopens.

Not only a great multi-arts space for the city but being run by Freeman College and Brantwood Specialist School, the theatre is also home to an array of opportunities for young people with special needs as well. Well worth support we reckon.
