I am one of the stewards of the People's Newsroom project at Opus. For over 10 years I have been working at the intersection of systems change, community organising and journalism. I founded and ran the Bureau Local at The Bureau of Investigative Journalism and was the first Data Editor for The Times and Sunday Times. We have a lot of work in front of us to heal the harms of extractive journalism but I truly believe that a people-powered approach to reimagining, reclaiming and rebuilding journalism for all is not only possible but necessary for our collective future. I am American and British and currently live and work remotely in my birthplace, California. When I'm not nerding out in this work, I can be found outdoors with my dog, Dorothy.
