Shirish Kulkarni

I’m a journalist, researcher and community organiser based in Wales, and across those roles all my work focuses on building a more equitable, inclusive and sustainable media sector.

I first worked with Opus on building a strategy and governance framework for Inclusive Journalism Cymru - a network I founded to connect, support and campaign for journalists marginalised or excluded by the industry in Wales. Having learnt so much from that process, and connected around our shared values, I was delighted that we could bring the People’s Newsroom project to become part of the Opus family. I became a journalist for the simple reason that I wanted to make the world a better place. The reason I joined Opus is because here, that finally feels possible.
