Open Air Shakespeare at the Peace Gardens

Fancy some Shakespeare? How about Shakespeare in the Peace Gardens? Well, GB Theatre Company will be performing Romeo and Juliet and Twelfth Night (though not at the same time, that’s crazy talk) in a Shakespearean extravaganza at the end of July.

Traditionally costumed open-air performances will take place in the Peace Gardens on Thursday 28, Friday 29 and Saturday 30 July. This is the very first time a theatre performance has been staged there, so don’t miss it.
There will be shipwrecks, swordfights, hidden identities, forbidden marriage and all that good Elizabethan drama. The cast includes Gabriel Thomson (My Family, Enemy at the Gates), who is returning to the company to play Romeo and Lucy Wray, one of London’s rising stars, as Juliet.

The one year old GB Theatre Company already boasts critical acclaim for the debut productions, As You Like It and Merry Wives of Windsor in 2010, so you’re sure to see a great performance.

This being Britain however it’s important to note that the theatre advise bringing warm clothing and waterproofs (umbrellas are not allowed during the performance to avoid obscuring views).
Whatever the weather does, the play will be awesome so stick out that stiff upper lip and get involved.
