NYAWA QUARTET

A fusion of Jazz/ Indian & Cuban Rhythms; the tunes meander through various time signatures and scales which will certainly tickle you up in the right way. Live, expect the boundaries of something at least to be pushed!

Line features Troy Faid on Banjo, Ben Pike on Mohanveena (Sitar/ Lapslide hybrid) Michael Bardon on Double Bass & Patrick Bannon on Percussion.

TROY FAID

Troy’s fingerstyle guitar stylings blend Ragtime, Jazz, Folk, Blues and just about everything in between, this, together with an earlyold voice communicate a desirous music – appreciated by many and influenced by a myriad of musicians and thinkers: from Elliot Smith to John Fahey… Karl Jung to Erich Fromm.

The BBC’s Tom Robinson recently recognised Faid as a “stunning guitarist and songwriter” and he’s been otherwise described as ‘a young cat on fire, bristling with leashed passionate blues and folk’ – often likened to John Martyn, Bert Jansch and Kelly Joe Phelps. His songs, beautiful in conception and poignantly eloquent in performance, have been characterised as ‘decidedly English, wistful and modern troubadourish’ refrains, reminiscent of a time now lost.’

LEONIE EVANS

From London Bristol way, Leonie is an extremely talented songwriter as those of you who came to our “At the Riverside” CD release party will be able to testify to. Blessed with a rare vocal prowess, her songs mix a variety of styles, from blues and folk to jazz standards, spiced in her own particular way.

The gig will support the release of her new E.P. ‘Gradually by Degrees’.

GENERAL WOLF

Another song writer well known in Sheffield. His songs are extremely catchy and your liable to be humming them dates after the gig, as i’ve discovered. Other than this notable quality you could probably place his music somewhere in the alt folk category but with definite pop/anthem overtones. Thoroughly impressed.
