Monday 27 November marked the launch of The Sheffield Gift Card by Sheffield’s Business Improvement District (BID). While retailer-specific gift cards are well-known and can be found at high street shops throughout the UK, this is the first time that a ‘place gift card’ has been created so it’s a nice first for Sheffield.
The aim of the card is to encourage a higher level of city centre spending, attract new customers and increase footfall following Christmas and into the future. It’s also hoped that the project will help the city centre to better compete with nearby retail destinations such as Meadowhall, and online shopping sites.
The card can be used at a whole host of retailers, restaurants, leisure and entertainment venues in Sheffield’s city centre including many of our independent favourites such as Silversmiths, Cubana, the Showroom Cinema, Theatre Deli and Ink and Water Coffee.
