Herdings Food Growers

Do you enjoy spending time outdoors? Are you keen to learn how to grow your own flowers, fruit and vegetables? Then look no further than Herdings Food Growers. They are a friendly and supportive ‘Grow Your Own’ group where you can discover and develop new skills, share your experiences and knowledge of gardening and meet new people. It’s been suggested that gardening may be the secret to a happier, healthier life so if you feel that your well-being may need a little boost then this group may be just what you’re looking for.

The group meets every Thursday from 9am until 12pm at Herdings Community & Heritage Centre on Morland Road and everyone is welcome. Health Practitioner Kim Hinchliffe runs the group with a real community ethos and the garden itself is very well-resourced with a huge polytunnel to accommodate growing a variety of fruit and vegetables and there are also a number of raised beds, trees and flowers to tend to.  There’s also plenty to get involved with aside from gardening, with other roles including fixing and building furniture, general maintenance, supporting participants with access requirements and making cups of tea for your fellow volunteers.
