Grey Suit Clay

Sheffield-based artist and designer Francesca Hague has been honing her wheel-throwing skills for quite some time now, and the name Grey Suit Clay has become synonymous with beautiful hand-crafted ceramic homeware. Each piece is individually made and entirely unique, with small multi-use dishes, tableware and domestic pots and planters all coming together to create a gorgeous portfolio of stoneware which easily augments any space, be it living or working.

Francesca says her focus is on creating ‘well designed, well presented, and above all, well made products’, and I’d say she’s more than ticked these boxes. You only need to hold one of the pieces to realise the quality of the craft and finishing, which alludes to the time and effort spent on each one.

You might be wondering where you’ve seen Grey Suit Clay whilst out and about in Sheff. Well, if you’ve enjoyed a cup of coffee or indulged in the bar snacks menu at Public, you’ll have supped and scranned from cups and plates made by Francesca. And if you didn’t clock it the first time, go back and drink in the dreamy soft pink glaze on all the pieces, but do try to resist taking one home 😉

And if you’re keen to have a closer look at the Grey Suit range, the shop section on the website is updated bi-monthly and can be found here, and you should also keep an eye out for their next Open Studio day, where you’ll be able to peruse the collections and discuss any commission ideas you might have.
